What Is Deep Tissue Therapy?
Deep tissue therapy is a therapeutic technique that focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It's especially helpful for chronically tense and contracted areas such as stiff necks, low back tightness, and sore shoulders.
Unlike Swedish bodywork which uses lighter pressure for relaxation, deep tissue therapy applies sustained pressure using slow, deep strokes to target the inner layers of your muscles and connective tissues. This helps to break up scar tissue that forms following an injury and reduce tension in muscle and tissue.
At Lansing Therapy Center, our therapists are extensively trained in deep tissue techniques. We'll work with you to find the right pressure level—firm enough to be effective, but never beyond your comfort zone. Communication is key throughout your session.
